Bernice’s beloved husband, Peter, peacefully went Home to the Lord on Monday Lunchtime last week, 17th February, at the wonderful age of 101½. So many of us were here in church to celebrate his 100th Birthday in August 2023. For the last six months he has been a resident in Grosvenor Villas Nursing Home, beautifully looked after by all the staff there, and Bernice able to be with him every day. She is so grateful that she was by his side as he took his last breath and slipped away to the Lord. A perfect gentleman and a lovely friend, Peter was Patron Saint of the Non-Catholic Supportive Partners, here at Mass every single Sunday to support Bernice. An amazing Werbie, we will give God thanks for his life in his Requiem Mass, Thursday 6th March, 1.30 pm. Everyone is warmly invited. For now, we send all our love and sympathy to his wonderful wife, Bernice, as Petee is Promoted to Glory.
A dozen suggestions have come in so far: some have written their feasibility studies (what’s the cost, who’s in charge and what’s the timetable?) and we hope to sign these off on Thursday. Others are still at the planning stage. So keep those ideas coming, and those feasibility studies, and we’re going to have a wonderful celebration together. (1) Prayer Book (2) Recipe Book (3) Parish Shared Table Meal Together (4) Lego Model of Church (5) Refurbishment of Parish Graves (6) Fund Raising for the Hospice (7) Parish Oral History (8) Church Open Week on Creation (9) A Music Pilgrimage (10) 150 New Garden Plants (11) History Group Project (12) Repository Bookmark. Any more ideas out there, Folks?
Do come and join us in our Brook St Club for our usual very enjoyable annual Parish Social. John lays on a super buffet, your free ticket entitles you to your first drink free (the other ten you have to pay for) and there’s the usual stupid FP quiz. Children & families very welcome. See you all there, to toast St Werburgh.
A trip into Ancient History this evening as the students meet some of our “Senior Members”: David & Jane, Lal & Steve, Geoff & Jill and Charlotte & Jordan.
The 2025/26 envelopes are available at the back of church, starting Sunday 6th April. If you use envelopes, please collect yours as soon as possible. Thank you.

Last Wednesday we were treated to the results of Tony Proctor’s research into the unique and fascinating history of one of his beloved pocket watches. A huge "Thank You" to Tony for his absorbing Talk. Tony left us on a cliff-hanger, and we have already booked him for Part 2 after the summer holidays…
Very saddened to hear in the week of the death of Fr John O’Leary’s mother. John, as you know, was one of my closest friends in seminary and a frequent visitor to St Werburgh’s from his Day Job as Rector of Allen Hall in London. Ruth was an amazing ninety-year-old, and I saw her last in the summer, on sparkling form. I shall go down for her Vigil Reception and Requiem in their home Parish, Sacred Heart Ruislip, Monday and Tuesday, 3rd/4th March. May she Rest in Peace.
