Here on official Visitation this weekend. The Bishop aims to visit every Parish of the Diocese about every five years, but as you can imagine, Covid knocked quite a hole in that programme. He was last here on Visitation in 2017 but has been with us many times since then. I know we will all give him a very warm “Werbies Welcome” today!
Out today, and bigger and better than ever! For the first time, they also include a “Month by Month” guide at the back for what’s going on here in the Parish. Huge thanks to Denise Jones for collating all the entries, and to everyone for sending in their Meeting Dates so promptly. Well, almost everyone… (Ever the hard word!) Make sure to take your copy today.
Lovely to have Judith Done with us last week, one of our Rowton Regulars, telling us all about her invaluable work with the Citizens’ Advice Bureau. (David Kluth is now going to enquire if he is eligible for the WWA benefit). This coming Wednesday, it’s our ever popular Knit and Natter session, while the Grumpy Old Men flick their Dominoes… Everyone warmly welcome!
Sunday 29th September marks the end of the Sunday Summer Teas for this year. The charity recipient for this year is ‘Blood Bikes- Shropshire, Staffordshire & Cheshire’, a service manned by volunteers delivering blood and other vital necessities to Hospitals and other emergency situations. Do pop along and support Anne and team if you can. 2.00-4.00 pm

You don’t often see a Catholic Church telling people not to give money! But, please, no loose cash for whatever purpose, as it’s very hard to know what it’s for. £20 was left in the Foodbank Basket last week, which we’re assuming was a donation, but… Plenty of envelopes on the window ledge, so please, please use one of them!
A flyer in each Newsletter today to tell our Students about what’s on offer for them and especially our Sunday Evening CathSoc meetings. All students – make sure you leave us your contact details.
Looking forward to seeing you all at your pick-up points!
Wednesday 2nd October, 9.00–10.00 in the School Hall All welcome. Ushers Bakehouse is kindly sponsoring this event, and all donations of cakes extremely welcome.
Now at the back of church, so please sign up.
One of the jewels in our Parish Renewal Crown, all of us have marvelled at the new heights to which Tom and team have taken the musical life of the Parish. The Choir and Music Group had their own Review session last Thursday, and now we’d like to hear the Parish’s views and feedback: what you particularly like, any suggestions you’d like to make, any reactions whatsoever. The Open Review Session is on Thursday 17th October, 7.15 pm in the Parish House, so do come along, or email (liturgy@stwerburghchester.co.uk), or drop us a note via the Collection Plate. All views welcome and will be carefully considered as we move forward with our musical life together.
Monday 14th October, 2.00-3.00 pm: a chance to meet the Tutors and learn more about our High School.
Pope Francis has chosen “God walks with His people” as the theme for 2024. He reminds us that “Every migrant has a name, a face and a story”. The Catholic Bishops of England and Wales have prepared “ A Catholic Response to Migrants and Refugees”. This document, entitled “Love the Stranger”, is available on their website cbcew.org.uk A hard copy of the basic Principles from the document will be available on the Outreach noticeboard from Sunday 29th Sept.
13th October, 2.00 pm. Two routes: 2.6m and 3.8m starting at St Winefride’s Catholic Church Neston. Details on the Outreach area at the back of the Church. For more information please contact Marco 07802 644456 bububaba05@icloud.com

Would you like to join a weekly Rosary Group for the month of October? If so, please let us know and we’ll find a time that suits everyone.
“I live in Madrid, Spain, but I am currently in Chester because I have come to study English at a school in the centre of Chester. I would be delighted to practise/speak English while also sharing the experience of getting to know English culture.” Please let FP know if interested.
