First Holy Communions

March is a busy and important month for our FHC families, so please check that you have the following dates in your diaries:

• Monday 4^th March at 7:00 pm at St Werburgh’s and St Columba’s School Lightfoot St, Hoole:
• FHC Information Evening for all Parents.
• Monday 11^th March at 6.30 pm here at Church:
• A Commentary Mass for all children and their families. This is an important part of the children’s FHC preparation programme.
• Tuesday 19^th March at 6.30 pm here in Church and House: A meeting for parents and children not at our Primary School. The children will need their folders, preparation books and pencil cases.

 

Welcomers at Sunday Mass

The new March Welcomers list is at the back of church, so do please sign up asap. We’d like some more Welcomers for the 10.45 Mass, to welcome at the door and hand out Newsletters and Music Sheets. It makes such a difference, especially to wizziters. If you come to this Mass anyway, why not become a Welcomer, every four weeks or so?

 

SVP Music Night

SVP would like to invite our parishioners to an evening of music, dance and bingo at the Music Night at CHS Emmaus Centre on 15^th March at 19.15 pm. Tickets are £10 and will be on sale after each Mass on Sunday 03^rd and 10^th March. More information from Marco bububaba05@icloud.com.

 

Deanery Conference Here on Thursday

All the Priests and Deacons of the Chester and Ellesmere Port Deanery have one of their twice-yearly meetings here on Thursday, always good to sit down together and look at issues both specific to our neck of the woods and to the diocese and Church as a whole. Please leave parking free!

 

Choir Lenten Reflection Friday 1^st March 7.00 pm
Rend & Mend: The Passion Reflected in Song through the Eyes of the Women

Please join our Choir and Musicians as they lead us in Lenten prayer, music and song, a fitting evening follow-up to the Women's World Day of Prayer at St Werburgh's on the Friday morning at 10.30 am.

Lenten Holy Hour: Moved to 17^th March, 3.00 pm

With the weekend of 1/2/3 March so busy – Women’s World Day of Prayer, and Choir Friday Evening Lenten Devotions – we’ve decided to move the Holy Hour to Sunday 17^th March instead.  This will be for Peace in the Middle East. Please come along to storm heaven for an end to this dreadful tragedy in the so-called Holy Land, and for a lasting peace that will see justice for all.  

 

Funeral in North Devon Tuesday 20^th Feb

A lot of trains on Monday and Tuesday, changing at Crewe, Birmingham, Exeter and Barnstaple, but so worth while to honour Thelma, our wonderful neighbour for all those years. My mum and dad thought the world of her, as I did myself.

Lenten Talk – “Pilgrimage”

Stephen Tierney will give an informal presentation on pilgrimage on Wednesday, February 28^th at 7.00 pm, on the origins of Christian pilgrimage, and why so many go to Santiago de Compostela in northern Spain in particular. All welcome.

Another lovely morning last week. Thanks to all who joined us for coffee and a chat, the knitters and natterers, the domino players, our wizziter from Shotwick… Thanks to the team for keeping the drinks and biscuits coming. If you’ve not been along yet, you don’t know what you are missing!

SVP Youth Mass at the Catholic High

The Chester Catholic High School is kindly hosting an SVP Youth Mass for all Catholic schools in the Chester and Ellesmere Port area on Wednesday 20^th March at 10.30 am. Local parishioners are very welcome to join us in this special celebration but at this is a school day all guests will need to register their wish to attend in advance. Repository Re-Opening! Back from Blackpool

This coming Sunday with cards and gifts for Easter and for First Holy Communions. Our own children’s designed Easter Cards will soon be on sale, and we’ll be having another Pre-Loved (aka second hand!) Piety Sale in May.

 

Music Group Up and Running Last Sunday

Highlight from the High

The students at the CHS are rehearsing for the 'Living Stations of the Cross' performance which will take place in the school hall on Tuesday 26^th March at 10.00 am. Parishioners are invited to come and watch the play. Tickets free of charge. To book please email shawk@christofidelis.org.uk

This year, it has been prepared by the Christian women of Palestine and St Werburgh’s has the privilege of hosting. All welcome. Please put the date in your diary and let’s join in prayerful support. Friday, March 1^st  10.30 am.
