This Tuesday: Class 4 – Daring to be Catholic!
Starts on Tuesday! We’re setting up our own Bible Exhibition on Monday Morning at 10.00 am if you’d like to join us. If you have any Bibles you’d like displayed (not valuable ones, please), do bring them along. Then the first of our three talks on Bible Translation is here on Wednesday at 7.30 pm: why the Catholic Church was initially so hostile to the concept of translating the Bible, and why it then became so enthusiastic. All warmly welcome! If you haven’t taken a brochure listing all the events for Bible Month in Chester, please do so today.
Our church will be open every morning in October 10.00 am to after Morning Mass: could you be a Steward any morning, 10.00-11.30 am?
St Francis Parish invites us to join them for the Thursday Evening: 7:00 pm – Service of Evening Prayer commemorating the Transitus of St Francis of Assisi. Afterwards light refreshments in the parish hall. Then on Friday 4th: 11:00 am to 9 pm Eucharistic Adoration and Sacrament of Reconciliation during this period "outside" of the Masses; 12:00 pm Solemn Mass in English
3:00 pm – Divine Mercy Prayer followed by the Holy Rosary; 7:00 pm Solemn Mass in Polish.
Finish this weekend, with the Werbies doing the honours – Sunday afternoon, in the Methodists. Let’s give them a rousing send-off!
Take an envelope from the back of church and return it on the Collection Plate.
Five new students began their training for the Priesthood in Shrewsbury Diocese this autumn, so any help you can give with the cost of the training is highly appreciated. Weekend 28/29 September. Gift Aid Envelopes available.

Due to meet Monday 30th September: can we postpone until the following Monday, 7th October, please, so that I can attend the new Rector at St Mary’s Handbridge being induced?
Anyone willing? We have a team of four, so you’d be required only once or twice each week. Full training given. See FP if interested.
Sincere thanks to everyone who came last Friday for Matthew’s Requiem, to support his parents, family and friends.
Liz Aiello, our Safeguarding Rep, has done a fantastic job in clearing over 60 Parish Volunteers who work with our children and vulnerable adults. This weekend, I’ll give a full Report to Parish on where we’re up to on this essential work.
Thanks to everyone who helped!
The list is now finalised at 16 names: Launch Meeting is Thursday 3rd October, 6.30 pm, Parish House. This is for parents only, please, not children.
Signing up list for the three events at back of church.
Thanks, everyone, for a super afternoon last Sunday: a beautiful Mass together, and a lovely tea to follow. Know of anyone else who’d like to join us?
CathSoc 2019-2020 launches this Sunday Evening, 29th September, with a walk around the walls and simple supper. Purple sheets for ALL our students to leave us their details at back of church. Every student, at Chester or elsewhere, Catholic or not, very warmly welcome to join us for these Sunday Evenings of fun and fellowship. Flyers out today for distributing far and wide.
A bag was left at the back last Sunday containing a very large cream cake and two bottles of wine. Anyone know anything about this? Sadly, we have had to throw the cake away, but we still have the two bottles of wine. But not for ever, of course…
As a Parish, we try to offer refreshments after events here, especially in the evening. Anyone like to join the Team? We find two is the ideal number, it isn’t onerous – just serving the teas and coffees – and full training will be given. See FP if interested.
Lovely photo of the little church where the Queen attends when at Balmoral. The sender didn’t tell us whether they were invited for tea afterwards…
