Very unpleasant incident in church last Wednesday during the 12.15 pm Mass: a man wandered in half way through, stood at the back and then, as people were coming up to Communion, snatched someone’s handbag and ran off. Thanks to quick witted parishioners he was immediately spotted, and some gave chase. He ran into the park, he was confronted, and the bag snatched back again. Deo Gratias! Huge thanks to Dr Tricia for being the hero of the hour. Everyone, please take great care of bags and possessions during Mass, and definitely take them with you when you coming to Communion.
Very sadly, Ruth Tierney’s mother Gill collapsed on her way into Church last Sunday Morning, as Ruth was getting ready for Children’s Liturgy. Despite the best efforts of paramedics and doctors, she could not be revived. But sincere thanks to our three parishioners who went to attend, Dr Anthony, Fr Anna and Dr Holly.
Sadly, a number of funerals to report over coming weeks, for which advance notice:
Thanks everyone for participating. 178 voting papers returned, and 58 different parishioners received votes. Now we are contacting the two who received the most votes to invite them to serve. 154 supported the re-election of the current members of the Parish Council and 24 expressed no preference. No one voted no!

Starting to be erected, behind the sheet! Please resist the temptation to take a quick peek, as the sheet will easily fall down if too many tweak it. Just wait for Tuesday 6th November and Bishop Mark – you won’t be disappointed!
Can anyone can give a hand on Friday, between 11.00 and 3.00 pm? List at the back of church.
We now have eight seminarians at Saint Mary’s Oscott with a ninth man joining the course for former Anglican clergy. The House of Discernment at the Cathedral welcomed five new men on 31st August to begin a time of prayer, community, study and apostolic work while sharing in the life of our Cathedral Parish. Please pray for all our seminarians and discerners. Your help with the costs of training the next generation of Priests is hugely appreciated – Gift Aid envelopes available.

We welcome back our old friends, Chester Male Voice Choir. They have a lovely selection of music for us, featuring two young soloists as well as the Choir. And a special echo this time of a hundred years ago, the end of the Great War.
