Catholic High School PTA and Friends

Year 7 and 8 Cheese and Wine Evening – All Year 7 and 8 parents and their children are invited to a Cheese and Wine Evening with a Family Quiz on Friday 27th September at 7.30 pm in the School Hall. An evening to meet and socialise with other parents. The event is free.

Mass Cards: Top Two Drawers in the Sacristy

Always delighted to say Masses for your intentions. Did you know that in addition to Mass cards expressing sympathy or for general intentions, we also have a selection of cards for special intentions? Anniversary/Special Remembrance/Get Well/Recovery/Thinking of You/Birthday/Especially for You/Thank You/ Special Occasion/Happy Occasion/Exam Success/Golden Jubilee. Please note, there is no charge for Mass Cards, but they do need to be signed by a Priest and the details recorded, so we can ensure the Mass is actually said.

Second Collection for Church Students

Five new students began their training for the Priesthood in Shrewsbury Diocese this autumn, so any help you can give with the cost of the training is highly appreciated. Weekend 28/29 September. Gift Aid Envelopes available.

Liturgy Group Meeting – Wednesday

An opening meeting, to which everyone is invited, when we look at our services in Church for the next few months and do some detailed planning. Do come along!

Philip Chidell “First Friday” Recital

Friday 4th October, 7.30 pm sees the return of our old friend Philip Chidell and his violin. A flyer advertising his concert is out today.

Calling All Elderly and Housebound!

Do you know of anyone who would enjoy joining our Masses for the Housebound, our teas at the Catholic High School, our Advent and Lent Reconciliation Services or our Christmas and Summer Lunches? The SVP offer free transport to all these events so if you know of anyone that you feel would like to join us, please email svpchester@gmail.com or call Stephen Perry , 07775781204 for more information. If you know of anyone stuck at home, who doesn’t get out much and would like to, let us know!!!

Refreshments After Mass next Wednesday

Come and join us in the Dining Room after 12.15 pm Mass on Wednesday – everyone welcome!

National Altar Servers Mass Liverpool Cathedral

We are delighted that a group of 24 Servers, Parents and Family Members from our Parish will be joining thousands of others from around the country for this special Mass, on Saturday 21st September, the first time it has been held outside of London. Our coach will leave the Lay-By outside St. John’s Church (adjacent to the Amphitheatre) at 11.45 a.m. PROMPT. Servers will bring with them Cassocks/Cottas/Albs and Guild Medals if they have been enrolled. Black shoes are to be worn. A light packed lunch would also be a good idea. Our coach will also be picking up Servers and Parents from St. Columba’s in this joint Parish event. We hope to return home between 4.30 and 5.00 pm.

New Handrails for Parish House

Peter has now finished the beautiful new antique cast iron hand-rails for the Front Door of the Parish House, and installed them. We can’t thank him enough – and grateful thanks from all our elderly parishioners who’ve struggled up and down those steps for far too long. Thanks, Peter!

APF Red Box Mission Collection

Bernie will be available at all Masses on Sunday 6th October to collect any red boxes ready for emptying. Thanks very much!

Next Meeting of the Readers Group

Monday September 16th September at 7.00 pm in the Presbytery for about an hour, to look at the Sunday readings for the next month. All very welcome, whether readers or not. Do just come along!
